Peppino


Why such a title? Just because the man who has sent this photograph was named “Peppino (which stands for “Giuseppe”). I think he must be the man on the right. When I bought this picture, I thouht the guy on the left was a civilian (probably a member of his family), but I’ve realized he wears an uniform (and a very strange cap, however).

Italian Riders’ Memorial


I was on Saturday in Turin (Piedmont), and I couldn’t miss this beautiful statue of an Italian cavalryman in WW1 uniform. This sculpture was done by Pietro Canonica (1869-1959) and inaugurated in 1923, and then moved to its current location in 1937.

Another view of the memorial. The lance which can be seen on the first picture has disappeared on this one, but don’t worry, it hasn’t been stolen, it’s just hidden because of the perspective…
