Michelin guides to the battlefields of the world war

For this evening, I wanted to share with you two pictures of books which were always at home, I presume they were bought by my great-grand fathers just after the war. These books are two issues of the famous Michelin guides to the battlefields. This collection was launched in 1917 (!), the first book I now own is dated 1919 and is about Ypres:

The second one is dated 1920 and is about the Somme front.

Such books are incredible documents because they allow us to understand the state of these regions just after the end of the conflict. These books were published again in 2014 (see here), but they’ll never have the sentimental value of these old books… I’ll publish some other pictures of them over the next days!
