The War Memorial of Salò

Salò, located on the shores of Garda Lake, is known mainly because it has the capital of the puppet state of Repubblica Sociale Italiana led by Mussolini during the Second World War. But like almost every town in Italy, it had its war memorial dedicated to the fallen soldiers of the Great War. This impressive monument, showing a dead half-naked soldier hold by two other men, is located in the square close to the City Hall (where there’s a little book shop with some interesting books about local history and the Great War, by the way…)
