M1917 Trench knives

The most interesting elements of this picture are obviously the two M1917 trench knives worn by these soldiers. The M1917 trench knife had a triangle balde with a wooden grip; the hand guard was studded with a single row of triangle shaped spikes. The 1918 version was very similar, but had a double row of spikes.
