Ufficiale – 1918

We’re now in 1918 (see my yesterday’s post)! Our officer is now a tenente of the 87° reggimento di fanteria (Brigata Friuli), a regiment which saw little action in 1918. Our man was anyway awarded of two decorations: the fatiche di guerra with 2 stars, which indicates he was in war service for 3 years, and a croce al merito di guerra (blue and white ribbon). The style of the picture has changed, but I do like this smiling portrait…

  1. This is a interesting trio of photos. I agree that the first two are so similar that they must have an incorrect year on one of them. Perhaps the dates were added by his parents, wife, or children some time afterward. In any case I’m sure they liked this one the best too.
