Aspirante ufficiale – 1916

With this picture, let’s start a series of pictures of the very same man. Indeed I’ve recently found three photographs of the same officer, taken in 1916, 1917 and 1918, if we trust the handwritten captions. We logically start with the first one, dated 1916. It states our man is a “aspirante ufficiale“, i.e. a reserve officer who was about to get the rank of sottotenente (2nd lieutnant). The point is that our man should wear on the lower part of his sleeve a black star, which is missing on this picture. See you tomorrow to meet our officer in 1917!
