And just before the deadline (it’s almost midnight), here’s the pic of the day! I’ve chosen this picture of two Doughboys portrayed in a studio in France. Both of them have been given a trench knife, but I am not sure the serviceman on the left has been taught how to use it. Indeed, the way he holds his knife is the best way to wound oneself in a fight!

It’s interesting to see the doorway of this now familiar studio. The way the soldiers are arranged separately looks like a discounted two-for-one photo that would be divided up into two postcards. On the sheet behind them is a paper note that I’ve seen in some other of these studio photos. Is it a calendar date?
