“A” on sleeve


I own so many Italian studio photographs that I often ignore them when I find them in flea markets, even if their price can be as low as 1 Euro. I only buy the most interesting ones, for their quality, a nice moustache or a detail of the uniform.

For instance, this one is interesting because this Italian soldier wears a m. 1912 uniforme da fatica (fatigues), easily distinguishable thanks to the quality of cloth and the two large vertical pockets above the waist ones. But I was very interested in the “A” patch on the right sleeve, I must confess that its meaning is totally unknown to me…
