A War Library on Wheels

“Champagne Kamerad” was the name of a newspaper published by German Army and it seems it sponsored the idea of war library on wheels…

It’d be nice to know if these ones were ever used!

  1. Both of these are terrific images that introduce a novel military rank – Wartime Library Driver! Did they collect fines for overdue books?
Checking on the newspaper title I discovered that copies of the “Champagne Kamerad” can be read online at the archives of the University of Heidelberg. They have several similar WW1 German army newspapers that may hold the answers to many of our research questions. The few pages I read have photographs, poetry, cartoons, humor, and stories as well as general military reports.
