Let’s begin this week with this pic of a customized stretcher used by French army during the war. The wounded soldier is carried well above the head of the two stretcher bearers. I don’t think this was a clever idea, as the wounded man is above the top of the trench too. Moreover, even if it seems some belts are used to keep in on the stretcher, the risk of fall is very high. Therefore it’s not a surprise if such stretchers were not widely used during the war!
