This photograph was taken from the first volume of La guerre au jour le jour and shows us French generals Dubail and Humbert checking grenades. The original caption is “Avant l’attaque, les généraux Dubail et Humbert passent la revue des grenades“. But the whole scene looks strange: it seems these grenades are laid in a kind of tiny wall built in a trench. What was the scope?
