Marylebone Road, Somme

Today is the anniversary of the tragic Battle of the Somme (1 July 1916). A thought to all British, Canadian, French and German soldiers who fought and died on the Somme.

Today’s picture shows what was once a communication trench in Beaumont Hamel, where the Newfoundland Memorial stands. Its name was Marylebone Road, as the name of the communication trenches were inspired by the name of London streets.
