Tanks and saucisse

It sounds like a menu, but it’s the topic of the day!

According to the caption of this reprint of a war picture, French chasseurs alpins and US tanks are travelling together on the Road of the Argonne region in September 1918. The tanks are of course French Renault FT-17 ones, but no word about the “saucisse” kite balloon on the right (French word “saucisse” means “sausage” because of the form of such balloons).
